Quirimbas
Archipelago, Mozambique
Quilálea Island rests in a marine
sanctuary that includes Sencar Island. The island
is 34 hectares big and lies alongside
a deep channel with direct access
to the Indian Ocean. The island forms part
of the Quirimbas Arquipelago, 32 coral islands which stretches
from Pemba to the Rovuma River, the natural
frontier with Tanzania.

The island is uninhabited except for the
nine private and spacious villas. These are
constructed entirely with indigenous materials
and handcrafted timber, opening onto a private
veranda with panoramic sea views overlooking
the sparkling Indian Ocean.

The various activities include: spectacular
snorkelling and scuba diving; diving from the beach in water
temperatures ranging between 24°C and 28°C; kayaking
and dhow sailing along the mangrove channels;
bird and whale watching in season; deep sea
sport fishing and day trips to the historic Ibo
Island. Cultural tours can also be arranged.

The dining area and lounge has views of the sunrise and sunset; and overlooks
the sea. It provides menus based on fresh
fish and seafood prepared in the traditional
Mozambican style, complimented with wonderful
South African wines. Al fresco lunches and
dinners can also be served on pristine beaches
around the island.

Children over 12 years are welcome.
