With the possibility of seeing the Sardine Run!

The Sardine Run along the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal is by far one of the most impressive natural migrations on record. Compared with the magnitude and awe of the great Wildebeest and Zebra migrations of the Serengeti, the Sardine Run is experience of a lifetime. Sardines migrate every year from the depths and relative safety of the Atlantic Ocean along the eastern shores of the Wild coast and the KwaZulu-Natal South coast on a dangerous mission for micro organisms to feed on. Their journey is intercepted by thousands of dolphins, sharks, sea birds and humans. The Sardine Run is best viewed from the towns of Scottburgh, Pennington, Sezela and Park Rynie, due to the deeper waters and sheltered alcoves.

If the timing is right you may be fortunate enough to experience the phenomenon of the annual sardine run. We will explore the local area for sardines, whales and dolphin activity and if there is a sighting we will follow the sardines. If not we will have other activities planned.
